How to Join or Renew Membership

We invite you to become a member of our club and enjoy this exciting, challenging, and satisfying hobby. You are welcomed and encouraged to attend our meetings or visit our flying sites before joining. You may contact a club member to arrange for entry to our field.

Experienced flyers may contact a Lake Sawyer Hawks member and arrange for flying at our field to determine if they want to join our club. Members can answer questions about flying conditions and the posted field rules. All new members must complete a Check Flight before flying solo. Contact a club Officer to complete a Check Flight.

New to RC flyers that want some flight instruction before completing a Check Flight may also visit the field with a Lake Sawyer Hawks member to observe a member flying that can also answer questions about flying conditions, what planes are good trainers, other R/C equipment, and the posted field rules. Contact Randy Ling to arrange for flight instruction.

After determining that you want to join our club, new members must have Full or Youth Adademy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Membership, then complete a Lake Sawyer Hawks Membership Application that requires an annual update. Membership runs from January 1 to December 31.

New or renewing members may join after October 1 for the remaining current year and the next annual dues period.

Membership Requirements and Application Form Instructions

Read This Note First: The Membership Application form is designed to be filled out on your computer. If you must manually fill out a form please download and print this Membership Application to make it easier to write in responses on page 2, 3, and 4.

Use Mouse or touch to select a text box or Radio Button. You can also use the Tab key to navigate between text boxes.
CAUTION - Do not use the the Enter Key as it will send you back to the Home Page and delete all your entries unless your device is set to save form data.
Completely fill out all text boxes and select appropriate buttons and type your name at the bottom of the Release and Indemnity Agreement and at the bottom of the Safety Rules and Regulations.
If Under 19, Parent or Legal Guardian must also sign at the bottom of the Release and Indemnity Agreement and at the bottom of the Safety Rules and Regulations.
Parent or Legal Guardian of Free Youth member must fill out the entire Membership Application and sign at the bottom of the Release and Indemnity Agreement and at the bottom of the Safety Rules and Regulations and indicate if underage 19 member may receive emails from the club or if Parent or Legal Guardian should receive emails.
Parent or Legal Guardian of under age 19 member must indicate if under age 19 member may attend or participate in club activities without Parent or Legal Guardian present.
Parent or Legal Guardian must ensure that under age 19 members have a full and complete understanding of the Safety Rules and Regualtions.
After completing the Membership Application Form, create a PDF file of the form to attach to an email (see page 4).

Release and Indemnity Agreement

I state that I wish to participate in course and/or activities offered by the Lake Sawyer Hawks, Radio Control Model Flying Club, (hereinafter referred to as "Hawks").

I RECOGNIZE THAT ANY HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES MAY INVOLVE CERTAIN DANGERS. I certify that I am aware of all the inherent danger of Hawks Club activities including, but not limited to: weather conditions, inexperience, accidents or illness in remote areas without medical facilities, the actions of any other members, any participants or any other persons, all of which may result in personal injury, including death, property damage or other losses.

In consideration for the right to participate in LAKES SAWYER HAWKS CLUB activities, I HEREBY RELEASE THE HAWKS CLUB AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, INSTRUCTORS, MEMBERS, AND KING COUNTY FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION ARISING OUT OF OR IN ANY WAY CONNECTED WITH MY PARTICIPATION IN ANY HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES AND FURTHER AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS THE HAWKS CLUB AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, INSTRUCTORS, MEMBERS, AND KING COUNTY FROM ALL LIABILITY, CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION WHICH I MAY HAVE ARISING FROM MY PARTICIPATION IN HAWKS CLUB ACTIVITIES. The terms of this agreement will serve as a release and indemnity agreement for my heirs, personal representative, and for all members of my family, including minors.

I further state that I am (19) years of age or older and legally competent to sign this release, that I understand these terms are contractual and not mere recital, and that I have signed this document as my own free act. Parents or legal guardians must sign for all persons under nineteen (19) years of age.

I HAVE FULLY INFORMED MYSELF OF THE CONTENTS OF THIS RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT BY READING IT BEFORE I SIGNED IT.

2024 Marlow Anderson R/C Airfield - Safety Rules and Regulations

SAFETY IS THE FIRST PRIORITY. Do not fly in a reckless, careless, or dangerous manner.
SMOKING: Smoking is NOT allowed anywhere, anytime within the fenced area.
NO FIRES: Fires are NOT allowed anywhere, anytime within fenced area.
Alcoholic beverages or other legal intoxicating substances are NOT ALLOWED, anywhere,anytime within the fenced area.
No RC aircraft shall display any hate markings. The subject mark shall be covered at all times while at the flying field.
Maximum model weight is 20 pounds.
AMA Membership is mandatory for all pilots. In order to fly, your AMA membership mus be valid.
You must be a current Lake Sawyer Hawks Member to fly, unless you are a guest of a member.
New members must demonstrate their proficiency before flying solo.
All flights will be within the fenced area of Anderson Field.
Intentional flying behind the pits is prohibited.
If you are sharing a frequency, make sure other pilots know what frequency you are using.
All new, repaired or altered aircraft will be range checked and undergo a safety inspection by the pilot prior to flight.
All aircraft will lhave identification as required by FAA and AMA. Pilots are respnsible for meeting FAA requirements.
A maximum of four aircraft on the flight line.
One flyer per flight station. Using a spotter is recommended.
The east-west runway only used for takeoffs.
The main runway can be used for takeoffs and landings.
Pilots must announce thier intentions to other active flyers e.g. "taking off" - "landing" - "dead stick" - "on the runway".
Pilots will give rright of way to and avoid flying in the proximity of full scale aircraft.
Spectators and pets must remain in the grassy area west of the pit area or in the parking area.
All powered aircraft shall be electric powered. No internal combustion engines are allowed.
All electric powered aircraft shall produce sound levels equal to or less than 79db at 25 feet.
Motors are to be shut down near the flight station. No taxiing into the pit area.
Clean up your area. If you pack it in, pack it out.
Pilots will be held liable and financially responsible for their actions and any damages caused by their aircraft.
No overnight camping.

How to Deliver Membership Application

1. Check Membership Application form for blank fields, then create a PDF or XPS file to attach to an email and send to Membership Chairman

2. Select File type for your operating system:

In Windows 10, 11 click on Print in your browser. In the printer menu, select "Microsoft Print to PDF" instead of your printer. Select "Portrait" Layout. Next select the location to save the PDF file and enter a file name in the following format: yyyy_Lastname_Firstname.pdf, where yyyy is the membership year.

In Windows 7, click on Print in your browser. In the printer menu, select "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" instead of your printer. Next select the location to save the XPS file and enter a file name in the following format for your file: yyyy_Lastname_Firstname.xps, where yyyy is the membership year.

In Mac OS X, click the File menu and select Print, or just hit command+P. Look for the "PDF" button in the lower left corner, click on that pull-down menu and select "Save as PDF". Please use the following format for your file: yyyy_Lastname_Firstname.pdf, where yyyy is the membership year.

In Linux with a Chrome browser, right click on the form and select Print from the Option Menu. In the print control interface, click on Destination then on Save file to PDF. Save the file with a name in the format: yyyy_Lastname_Firstname.xps, where yyyy is the membership year.

In Ubuntu with a Firefox browser, click on the 3 short lines (upper right corner) and select Print from the Option Menu. Under Destination select Save to PDF. Save the file with a name in the format: yyyy_Lastname_Firstname.pdf, where yyyy is the membership year.

3. If you are unable to create a PDF File, you may fill out the data manually, then mail it to Tom Sadler at 22639 SE 270th PL, Maple Valley, WA 98038. This Membership Application form is designed to be filled out on your computer. If you must manually fill out a form please download and print this Membership Application to make it easier to write in responses on page 2, 3, and 4.

To avoid Membership Application processing delays, please do not mail paper forms to JB.

How to Pay Club Dues

No cash payments will be accepted by mail or at the meetings.

The preferred method to renew or join the Hawks is to pay your club dues via PayPal at this address: rc.hawks.treasurer@gmail.com using "Send money to friends and family" to avoid the Hawks paying a service charge. If your PayPal account is not your legal name please add your legal name in the "Add a note" field of your PayPal payment so we can properly record the payment.

If you do not have a PayPal account, create a PayPal account at www.paypal.com. In PayPal link your bank account and load the account from your bank account with enough money to pay your fees. It usually takes 3 to 5 days for your PalPal account to load. Then in PayPal pay club dues to: rc.hawks.treasurer@gmail.com using "Send money to friends and family" to avoid the Hawks paying a service charge.

If you do not want to use PayPal, you may pay by check payable to Lake Sawyer Hawks. Checks only accepted at a club meeting or by appointment with JB at the club field.
