Members and Guests Must Understand and Follow The Field Rules Like all clubs, the Hawks do have Rules. Developed to ensure safety and avoid loss of AMA insurance coverage in the event of an accident, the rules also remind us to have some basic common sense as we enjoy the hobby of flying Radio Controlled Models. Here are those rules accepted by the membership of the Lake Sawyer Hawks: Safety Rules & Regulations:
All Models limited to 20 lbs maximum (takeoff weight). Electric aircraft on non-fueled days, noise level will not exceed SIGN THE LOG BOOK before you fly and when you are ready to leave.
Parking is only allowed west of the tall orange markers. AMA Membership is mandatory for all pilots. You must be a current Lake Sawyer Hawks Member to fly, unless you are a guest of a member. New members must demonstrate their proficiency before flying solo. All flights will be within the fenced area of Anderson Field. Intentional flying behind the flight line is prohibited. CHECK THE FREQUENCY BOARD BEFORE TURNING ON YOUR TRANSMITTER. Use of the frequency board is mandatory, including 2.4 GHz. Place your AMA card in the appropriate clip. If you are sharing a frequency, please use a Do Not Fly clip on the Transmitter that is not in use. All new, repaired or altered aircraft will be Range Checked and undergo a Safety Inspection prior to flight. All aircraft will have identification indicating the owners name and contact information. A catch container must be used during fueling to prevent fuel spillage. A maximum of four aircraft on the flight line. One flyer per flight station. Using a spotter is recommended. The east west runway will only be used for takeoffs. The main runway can be used for takeoffs and landings. Pilots must announce their intentions to other active flyers. (e.g. “taking off”: “landing”; “dead stick”; “on the runway” ) No high speed passes over the pilots side of the runway. Extended running of engines in the pit area for break in purposes is prohibited. Pilots will give right-of-way to and avoid flying in the proximity of full scale aircraft. Spectators and pets must remain in the pit area. Engines are to be shut down on the runway. No taxiing into the pit area. Clean up your area. If you pack it in, pack it out. Pilots will be held liable and financially responsible for their actions and any damages caused by their aircraft. No overnight camping.
